Turquoise and Red Step Stool Vintage

I was wandering around a thrift store the other day and saw a great little stool.

My mouth started to water as I thought of all the colors it could be.

Before I could get there, two other ladies spotted it and were discussing it's merits.

I was crushed.  I pretented to be looking at other things, hoping that they would pass it up.

The walked around the corner and started talking about something else.

I walked over, put it in my cart and one of them said to the other "weren't you going to get that?  Oh just let her have it".  They had abandoned it, I did not snatch it from them, although I wanted to.

This is how it looks today!

It is bright and cherry, fun colors and sturdy.  It is a vintage stool and is all wood.

It is a sweet addition to any kitchen or bath.

Pedestal Round Side Table

This was once a simple white table waiting to be made into something extraordinary. 

I sanded the lacquer finish off and then primed and painted it AS Chalk Paint Graphite.

Sanded the edges, put a decal in black in the center.

This is the great result.  I am so happy with it.

Carved Cabinet Armiore

This is the cutest piece of furniture.  All the carved details and outstanding handles are just wonderful.  It has been painted shabby black and then lightly sanded to bring out the ornate carvings on it.  It is a custom piece from 1966, french country and all wood.

Look at all the room inside.  Three drawers that are roomy and a large cubby with one divider.  The drawer at the top is so pretty.

A Gift of Love

I met a dear sweet lady yesterday, via Craigslist. She was just a sweet person.  She entrusted this quilt to me for safe keeping and some other things that were dear to her family.  I am thrilled to have it.  what a treasure to be entrusted with.

Craig'slist Redo

We have had this lovely sofa for seven years.  It is new, really, in the formal living room where no one ever goes.  I decided I wanted a lighter room, so when someone called about a chair I had on Craigslist, they asked about a table as well.  After they bought the table from me at Merchant Square Antique Marketplace, they asked about the sofa.  I bravely said yes, of course, it's for sale and I delivered it to them with my husband.

I went on Craigslist to see if my new sofa was there and here it is with an over stuffed chair.

It lightens up the room and gives it a warmer feeling.  The burgendy french chair in the photo will be moving to another room shortly.  I love it.  New pillows for the sofa and chair and a few accessories and I will be a happy girl.

Thank you Craigslist for the one day change up.

Buffet

I love this wonderful piece of buffet art.  Can you believe a mover did something to the back leg.  I am having a professional fix it and it will look perfect again.  I am excited to be able to offer this beauty in a couple of weeks.  $400

French Chair

I love the look of this chair.  the curved legs, arms and don't you die for for carved flowers at the top, bottom of chair, legs, arms?  They make it so beautiful.  There is some wear on the seat.

Minus a Real Brain

Sometimes I find really, I mean Really Great Furniture and then my left brain says but it's missing a handle or it has marks on the top . . oh my what ever will I do??? I mean really, what was I thinking??? Just because the Bakelite handle was broken on the bottom drawer and there were marks on the top of this dresser and vanity, clearly I was not thinking . . . at all.

I was contacted by a dear friend who wanted more pictures of the vanity and I sent them. Some mention of the dresser was in there but I missed that completely.

You can see where I wiped off the paint.
Interest was expressed by the buyer and then mention again of needing photos of the dresser and perhaps purchase of both if they liked them.

My heart sank, in my tenny brain, when my real self was missing, I painted the dresser and mirror, chalk paint blue. Can you imagine how my heart sank when the buyer perhaps wants the set only one piece is now blue. One good thing is that chalk paint before it is waxed will wipe off without damage to the finish.   Can I wipe it off and make it like it was before??  I don't really know.  This is a very hard lesson to learn. Be patient when you have a really nice set and don't paint it!!

Antique Vanity 1930's Must See

This vanity is stunningly beautiful, carved around mirror, trim around frame, carving on drawer, around front/side of legs, minimum shall we say dings, a few small pieces of trim are gone, rounded drawer on top of main cabinet, gold flowers in mirror by the top. A really good quality antique.
